    Lite-on CDRW

I am installing a Lite-On in a new machine for someone. The original software I believe is missing...ie. customer can't find it. I think the original software that comes with the older lite-ons was adaptec easy cd creator. i know they have become roxio, but is there a any software program that I can get for free to make the cd burner work?/

    thanks in advance.

EDIT: Forgot...it's win 98 not XP

if you're talking 98 or winme try
    http://www.sony.co.th/download/drive...iter/setup.zip
    sony cd Xtreme

may work or may not (not sure about burner support) found it in a very old thread - but it's free
check out the whole thread as there's some tips and mention of other software.

if winxp then just use basic built in features.

All the new lite-ons come with Nero Burning Rom, I find it's probably the best burning software I've come across,

I know, but this is an old one, that originally came with software, which they don't have and they/we don't want to spend money

The sony application will work fine for what is needed to be done.

They very rarely use the cdrw except for backing up documents....

    thanks

how old, I only thought that Lite-On started with the 12x cdrw's.. Also Roxio offer a free version of Easy CD Creator.

As Garak says, the newer Liteons come with Nero, which IMHO makes them far more reliable. A previous Liteon that i supplied came with WinONcd which was terrible and gave no end of problems :-(

Errr 'tis not really free, there is a trial version, & then there is the Adaptec Easy CD Creator Upgrade Trick , which makes the latest version free if you had the old version.....

But Nero is very easy to 'imagine' working once your trial for that has run out........
