HP LaserJet 4100 TN with job jaming all the time
Hi,
I'm out of idea for this one, if anybody can help It would be appreciated.
We have a brand new HP LJ 4100TN that we install last week an since it's been install there a lot of jobs that keep jaming in the printer queue. The printer queue is configure on a Windows NT 4.0 cluster the bidirectionnal communication with the printer has been disabled. All the jobs that jam in the queue has the name : "outbind://" plus a serie of numbers and letters that change at every job but I cannot see the complete name even full screen on a 21 inch sceen. Those jobs even if they got a similar name can come from various apps, AS400, Outlook, Word, Excel, Unix... they don't have any point in common. Another thing we check is the printer jetdirect card speed and it seem that the slower you put the card the better it work now it running at 10T/full it jam once or twice a day, at 100T/full once or twice an hour.
Any suggestion will be welcome

Have you tried a defferent printer driver?
You could safely add the HP LaserJet 4P, 5P, or 6P.
I would recommend the 4P

We have already tried the following drivers
LaserJet 4
LaserJet 4P
LaserJet 5
LaserJet 5P
LaserJet 4000 (PCL5, PCL6, PS)
LaserJet 4050 (PCL5, PCL6, PS)
LaserJet 4100 (PCL5, PCL6, PS)
Without success they all do the same problem, some a little bit more some alittle bit less.
Thank you for the efforts

I take it you've already been to HP's website for your LaserJet. Looks like there are recent updates for WinNT4.0 dated March, 2001. And, looks like your User's Guide is available for download via the Manuals link.
Also, read up on HP Jetdirect Print Servers - Printing on Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 TCP/IP Network. You didn't say if it was hooked up via a JetDirect card or parallel or USB or what...

Lots of good info there...Good Luck!

We found the problem, the JetDirect card firmware had to be updated to version L.21.22
This is on a J4169A HP JetDirect Card
The problem was that any job with a long filename would jam in the queue no matter wath the job was.
Thanks for your help.
