novell client issues
Situation:
I have a customer that upgraded to the latest client this past weekend.
NT4 workstations
Mixed environment: Novell 5.5.something, 2000
Since upgrading the client it takes over 10min to logon.
Need:
1) A copy of the old client: they had 4.2 for NT prior to "upgrading"
2) A fix for the new client if I can't get the old one
3) A sledgehammer to smash ever friggin Novell box I see

Make sure you have a preferred server set in the Netware Client properties (right click on the red N icon in the tray and select "properties" to access it).
Also consult the Novell Knowledgebase, there are more articles on "slow client login" that I can shake a stick at. This link will take you directly there:

Something to keep in mind, you just can't upgrade your clients without making sure your server is up to snuff. The fact you don't know what version of Netware they are running or even what service pack they have installed worries me.
I'd help you out further but I've got my own problems right now. Good luck.

It worries me also. I know nothing about Novell other than it is an irritation. They have a Novell admin on staff and she is the one that upgraded the clients, not I.
I checked the preferred server and it is correct.
Thanks for the link. I will sift through that for a few hours.
