fileplanet and its uber craptacularness
when are companies going to learn that fileplanet is one of the worst places to put a file they want downloaded? I mean, everything's fine and dandy if you are subscribed to it, but some of us cant affort a membership. So, relagated to the free servers, the vast majority of people have to sit there for hours on end trying to evey start the download, not to mention actually trying to download it and if they're lucky the whole file will download without timing out. I mean, really, how they heck do companies get their files out this way? I'm on a t1 at school and can't download a single thing from them. the only alternative i've found is fileshack, but that doesnt carry nearly the volume of files that fileplanet does. sorry for the rant, but ive been trying all day to dl the ac2 and neocron betas and i havent been able to even start the downloads and its starting to get on my nerves.

www.fileshack.com beats fileplanet with a stick. The day the NFSHP2 demo came out, I was able to download it at 100Kb/s from Fileshack with a 10 minute wait to start, whereas fileplanet was getting absolutely hammered.

That is exactly what I do with any file I want that I cant get for one reason or another (ie. broken link). Paste the filename into google and more often than not you can find it there.

The industry is moving toward a "pay for patch/download" model.

I know and it really blows that they are, if you bought a car and the axel fell off every 50 miles would you have to pay for it? No, so why should we have to pay for a patch to a game that we paid for but is buggy?
