    Thanx kato2274

Ya, it looks to be the same software as the US Umax site had, so thats good for some people who need it. Unfortunatley it still wont allow my scanner to work proper.

it's a different version of vista scan. the us site has 3.51 the denmark site is 3.55 wouldn't seem like it would matter, but believe me it does. the us vista scan wouldn't see my 1220P under winxp. as soon as I switched to the 3.55 from denmark site it started running.

HUH, take a look at this page:

    <a href="http://www.umax.com/scanners/index.jsp?cate=Scanners:+CD-ROM+Titles&skunum=UMXCWV1355" target="_blank">Umax Drivers</a>

For some reason it is spontaneously rebooting itself. Did not do it before setting up the drivers for the scanner.

Oh well, I will just hook it up to my wife's Win98SE PC and carry on.

I read an article about this and have tried to download for my Astra 2100U only to get a message that it would cost 29.00. The article stated that Umax is not charging Europe yet, so I went to England's Umax site. Guess what! It was free. So was Germany!

What a bunch of capitalistic meanies. I would say to just go out and get a new usb scanner that is XP compatible. Then let XP install the drivers for it. And if you're not using XP then whatever OS your ARE using should work to for usb or something. You can use Photo Editor or whatever you prefer to do the scanning and stuff. Anyway, just an idea. Good scanners are pretty cheap these days. I think the reason they're doing this is to kinda phase out the parallel stuff.

Anyway, ever since I disconnected the scanner from my Win2K box there has been no more spontaneous rebooting.
