    morrowind/ vertex shaders bypass needed.

just gone from desktop with gf4 ti4440 to a laptop with gf4 440 go.... i now therfore have a machine without full direct x 8 + hardware support ergo morrowind doesn't look as good as it used to.. My question... can i ''trick'' morrowind into turning on advanced direct x8 fetaures using software instead of the...missing... hardware..

maybe the morrowind.ini file might help but i have scanned it quite thouroughly..

Emulating a hardware feature in software is exceedingly slow when it can be done. I know of no way to do what you are asking but I pretty sure you wouldnt like the results.

For the love of god man, don't do anything with your laptop mobo if you aren't going a card route. Onboard video chips cannot be swapped out. You could be on the fast track to having a voided warranty and a paperweight.

I am guessing you have a Dell Inspiron 8100 because those are the only laptops I know of that it is possible to swap Video Cards.

I'm hoping and suspecting you're right here, but I've seen much stupid crap done with a soldering iron and ignorance.

ive got an inspiron 8200 which as far as a can discern can take either a geforce 4mx440 or a radeon 9000.(mx460 to follow) i think too that the radeon 7500 and the geforce 2go will fit..i dont know aboujt the quadro 4 go or what ever its called excatly
the inspiron 8100 's motherboard can also be fitted with a new graphics card. they're tiny little things.

I've just swapped the gf4 in my own laptop for a radeon mobility 9000). which has now solved the problem with morrowind
