auto run at startup
anyone else noticing that if a cd is in the drive when the computer is restarted the cd autoruns.
example: If I restart after the wife has played scrabble, when the computer starts the scrabble install launches.
I don't want to turn auto run off completely. Searched groups.google.com and didn't come up with any good info. just wondering if anyone has experienced and solved this first hand.
In addition I don't remember this happening prior to SP1 which I can't remove because I slipstreamed my cd and made a new XP install CD with SP1.

I once had the same problem and I didnt know what was causing it. After some time it jus seemed to have disappeared itself.

Try clearing the documents folder up from the start button.

You can selectively turn on the Autorun for the types of CD's. I have all data CD's i.e. with computer programs, installs, magazine CD's having NO Autostart, but all Audio & Video CD's are autostart.
I think that's what you want. You could try X-Teq X-Setup which allows you to precisely do this.
In essence try tweaking thse keys and it's subkeys -
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer\Autorun
Hope this helps you.

thanks but not what I'm looking for.
I really like the autorun function (except in the rare case I want to browse a CD instead of launching to autorun app) I just don't think it's supposed to launch just because I restarted the computer. . . . . and it wasn't always doing this.
oh well, I'm due for a reformat once my classes go to break. hopefully that will fix it.
