How's THIS for screwed up???
Here is a newspaper article from the Thursday Nov 21 2002 edition of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. it comes from a weekly article called News of the Weird. It reports strange news stories from around the world that are sometimes funny, and sometimes not so funny.
Here it is word for word:
Also in August, New York City landlord Denise M. Lyman announced she would not allow the family of Sept. 11 victim Danielle Kousoulis into Danielle's old apartment to secure DNA to help detect her remains because Danielle had breached her Sept. 1, 2001, lease by failing to give three months' notice before "abandoning" the apartment.
I am not a master of the legal arts, but isn't TRAGIC DEATH an automatic out clause for leases? What is the landlord going to do, put a bad mark on Danielle's rental history???
I would love to be the judge of a jury member when, not if but when, this goes to court.

I have to disagree. This is not a case of stupidity. This is a case of being a complete and total *&&^%$#@ jerk.

It's her place. She can do whatever she wants. She probably doesn't knwo what happened to the tennant and just figured they split. It's something that King Grover likes to call ignorance.

I can't imagine that she doesn't know what happened to the tenant. What a lame A$$, I agree...won't be long before this one is in the court systems...

I wonder what happened to the contents of the apartment, too. I bet the landlord took it all and sold it.
I'm sure lawyers are already gearing up on this one. You know they're going to climb up one side and down the other of that hag.

It could be worse. She could have the landlord from Kingpin to boot.
