MSN8 and XP Warning.
Just got done with a 1.5 hour call with MSN. There is apparantly a known glitch with MSN 8. If you upgrade from 7 to 8 on a machine running Windows XP, the machine may stop dialing out to the MSN server. It will dial the 800 number to get local access numbers, but not to the connection servers for internet access.
They do not know how to fix it. They do however have a workaround. (Pay attention kids, cause this is a hoot).
Create a new Windows XP account. That's it. They want you to create a new XP account and port over all of your stuff. Now if anyone out there knows of another way to rectify (he he he. Rectify) the situation, that would be good.
I'm going to call my client and tell her to get a real ISP now.
(hops of the soap box)

For $10 more a month they could get DSL or Cable modem. Tell them to stop drinking soft drinks with every meal and drink water instead and they can afford not only broadband, but a nice router firewall along with it

Funny you should mention that. I spoke to her today and she's dropping MSN for cable. Score one for the client.
