    Exclamation No printing in word

This might sound a little weird but I can print from every program in my pc except for microsoft word. At first I thought, maybe Office is playing games with me, so I uninstalled it, and installed it again. No help there. I said ok, maybe I have a virus or something. I got the latest updates from Symantec, ran a few scans, still nothing. I have reinstalled the printer drivers and the problem still persists. I need help, big time. Anyone with any suggestions or possible solutions to the problem would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

When you go to File>Print within Word is the printer listed? Also, what OS is it?

I would go to the Microsoft Website for any updates you may need. You might have particular printer that has a glitch that Microsoft has a fix for.

I'm in agreeance with everyone here. Scan again for a virus using a different virus checker. I believe AVG provides a free web based one, (sorry don't have the link).

Then I would definetly update office whatever version it is.

Also I believe for Windows 2000 there are updates to correct errors with HP printers. This is in the recommended updates,(2000) area and not in the critical updates.

    Good luck.

Trendmicro has an online scan. Another thought would be to run a scanreg /fix just to be sure the problem isn't registry based.

"Can't print" can cover a multitude of symptoms

Does the printer print blank pages? This is an issue with fonts and can be fixed.

    Could do with more info!

    Good luck!

Sorry about the lack of information, but I am running windows 98se, and I am getting blank pages. Yeah, I think I have a macro virus too, but my virus checker doesn't seem to think so. I am going to try that online virus checker and see what happens. Thanks for all the help, please keep 'em coming.

Does your correct printer show up in File/Print? How about going to File/Print Preview? Does your document show up correctly there?

Concerning your Symantec virus scan, make sure that it is set to run all the time. When you open up your document, it should be requesting Virus Scan on the bottom toolbar of Word. This would alleviate any problems with macro viruses, etc.

Just a couple of suggestions...let us know how it ends up. Good Luck!

If you're getting blank pages, try this (may sound daft)

Select All text in the document and change the font to a system font TNR perhaps, and try to print again.

It may be that your printer is having difficulty downloading the fonts from this machine - as I say, sounds daft, but I've encountered this effect before.

    Anyway, you can try!

    Good luck!

The first thing that I tried was to see if I could see the document in print preview, that worked fine. I proceeded to File/Print to see if the printer was listed, which it wasn't. I reinstalled the printer drivers for a second time, and now the printer is printing in Word again. I am going to check it for viruses later, just wanted to say thanks for everybody's help.
