OOH-RAH MOTIVATOR! Nice to see I'm not working my *** off sorting toys in a cold warehouse for nothing...so many people are able to help from the comfort of their very own homes

How does this process actually help? Excedrin probably has a set amount that they intend to donate, regardless of the site hits. By clicking on the link, it doesn't make me feel like I have done a single thing; and frankly, it makes me feel like a turd for not having done anything giving this year.

Please, if you really want to help, donate a toy, send a check, or just offer your time to some worthy cause.

Ya_Know, sites like this go ahead and get other donors when the first set # of clicks are used up. By clicking you ARE contributing because you are proving to people considering sponsoring the site that they are getting exposure.

The Hunger site started with a limited number of "clicks" but has ballooned and left its original sponsor's quota in the dust...

if Excedrin uses up its clicks, it will be told that donating money to charity = web traffic. that will influence its decisions in the future.

At my office we had a Toys-fo-Tots drive just in the past few weeks and we filled a moderate-sized U-Haul truck. I did my part!

Nothing wrong with clicking a link - doesn't hurt. But it doesn't hurt to get off your duff and spend at least $15 on some cool toy and desperatly not keep it for yourself.

I saw some kids toys that would keep me occupied for days...

Definitely if you are going to donate give something for the older kids - 11-14 age group seems to be getting screwed. We have handed out over 500 nancy drew books - all the same one, and sometimes 100 of them to the same orphanage/school/whatever...thats a lot of preteen girls who are probably already hating life who are now going to hate toys for tots and the marine corps for the crappy stuff they get.....the 4-7 age group gets the most toys...something like 3 or 4 times as many as all the other groups combined.

Now, this is just in our area and may be different elsewhere, but I'm sure the trend carries everywhere.

Leave it to Ya_know to be a ray of sunshine! And if you feel like such a turd, get out there and do your part, there is still time. And if you don't get the chance, at least you made a small contribution here. Yes its not much, but it still makes a difference!

    Thanks Clam for clarifying things!

As for Toys for Tots, I don't generally donate to that. We have a thing here at work where we do presents for a convelescent home for children up the street. Many of them have been left there and the families rarely if ever visit. These children have various degrees of disabilities and are of all ages. I think its a great cause!
Failure is not an option -- its a "feature" of Windows.

Just wanted to point out that I'm also donating some time this Christmas for a food/toy distribution in my city.

I was on the receiving end of that not too long ago, so I consider it a priviledge to be able to give a little something back.

I'm not taking anything away from this thread by saying: Get directly involved if you can - it's worth it.

This is pretty much what I wanted to say, but obviously I didn't address it so eloquently as you did. I will now, by saying ditto.
