    Question Zip Drive

I just got notified that I am responsible for backing up some production servers that run DOS / iRMX. I noticed they have a shared ZIP drive (with a serial cable). Anything I should know about using one of those in DOS? I've never used any ZIP drives before (dunno why, just never did) so I'm not familar with their driver / config requirements. Can someone enlighten me, please?

Iomega has what is called Guest.exe for DOS

BTW: I have never heard of a serial based Zip drive, only a paralel version or the USB version. watch out however, it could be a SCSI{look for this symbol on the back} zip drive which needs a SCSI card.

I have seen Jaz drives that hoook up to serial ports so Iomega might have it for there zip drivers as well.

I'm quite positive that Zip drives (external) only come in SCSI, Parallel and USB. I've never heard of a serial Zip. I could be wrong....

    Question

I've seen all three of those types (parallel, SCSI, USB) I am almost certain there is a serial version.

I have never seen a SERIAL ZIP drive, only, SCSI, USB & Parrelel. I have never been offered one either in 10 years of dealing with Suppliers.

A ZIP Drive on a serial port? Now there is the definition of slow! I have the parallel version at work and it's slow to begin with. I would have to say there's no such animal, no info on Iomega's site.
