Any one ever cut stainless steel with a jigsaw??

Need to cut some 1mm stainless steel. thinking of using the jigsaw but am a little dubious..... stainless steel is a @@@@@ to cut.. took me 2 hours on and off(smoke from the drill had something to do with this) to cut a 70mm hole with a saw arbour and electric dil through the very same bit of metall??

Has anyone cut stainless steel with jigsaw??was it difficult??

I'd use a cutting torch to cut stainless. I don't think you can jigsaw it.

I've used a big, big bandsaw before now. Mac's right, torch is the way to go, maybe get away with a heavy cutting disc in a big grinder.

I know a guy who used Stainless for his battlebot - he used this...

    Edit: My lousy typing

Might be easier for you in the long run to mark all your pieces up and take them to an engineering shop for the work.

i've tried a few local firms and they wont cut metal that they havent sold me ... still there are others to try

Still id like to save the cost and do it myself. i have just given a piece a test cut and it seems fine.

I bought a good blade earlier and it seems to be holding up..have just cut the 2 steel struts for the top of the case...through like butter

thanks for the advice.. i'm going to look st some burners tommorow....

Other way would be a plasma cutter.
