Write a virus, be a butt monkey...

    I love it!

The punishment still isn't severe enough in my opinion, but it's definitely a good start!

Just deserts for such a criminal offence.
Perhaps his computer controlled cell door will get a virus and leave him stuck in there for a day or two

To them, it's fun to do until they get caught.
Stiffer sentences would help abeit more, but not alot.

Spending a fortune on keeping someone in jail for a non violent offence is, in my opinion, a waste of money... there are many hundreds of community projects that require both brains and brawn and he should serve an equivalent two years improving some peoples lives instead.

But I agree, he should be punished.

Oh, I don't know. Grand theft auto would have to be classified as a non-violent crime as well, but no one bats an eye when someone is sentenced to 3-5 years in prison for that type of infraction. And when you get right down to it, what's the cost of a new Porche or Mercedes Benz compared to the countless hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage an effective virus can cause? I just don't see a difference.

Besides, it's not like this guy is going to spend two years doing hard time and getting traded for a pack of cigarettes on a weekly basis. It's far more likely he'll wind up in some minimum security installation, with cable TV, Pay Per View, and internet access. It's just not enough in my opinion.
