Editing a user in Active Directory
We are troubleshooting an issue and think there may be a spelling error in the AD. When the user enters the correct info, well she cant do anything.
Is it possible to edit a user in AD or do i have to delete and re create the user all over again?
It is my understanding that it cannot, i checked the MSKB and a few other sites but keep coming up dry...
Thanks

Can you delete her account and recreate it?

Usually has to do with the Alias and Username not matching up. I had the same problem when I changed the usernames in AD. They could not send email out. I would say remove and recreate user to allow the mailbox wizard to run and you should be fine.

We are pretty certain (after looking for two hors at any possiblilty of an error on our end) We are now leaning towards the error on part of the ISP, and may just give the user OWA access.
Thanks

We dont know what we did, the user doesnt know what she did. As a matter of fact, none of use did anything but suddenly it works. the damn thing just works.

FYI, you can edit AD properties with adsi edit. Add adsi edit to an MMC console. To edit user properties open the domain containter and navigate to the domain/users/user and pick a property to view. When I had an exchange server go down for good I had to manually change the msExchangeHomeServer name manually because there was no "wizard" to do it. There may be one in the exchange server resource kit but I didn't find it.
In any event, use adsi edit with caution. It's handy, it's powerfull, but, if used improperly you can take down your forest. That would be mmbaaaad.
