    "Stupid Computer Tricks"

Pics from the author's former life as a computer tech. The pic of the computer with the first line in autoexec.bat of DELTREE /Y C:\*.* is hilarious!

I have seen most of those at one time or other......

After 18 years in the business, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Heh...seeing that ol gateway with the cover that didn't fit brought back memories. About a year and a half after we got the gateway, the dvd drive wouldn't shut at all. I sent it back, got a new one...lo and behold the front cover no longer fit. Well, it's been...3 and a half or 4 more year or so...and my dad finally jerry rigged it back on. Those cases were such craptacular pieces of crap.

Pre-built comp. cases suck. HP, Dell, Compaq, Packerd Bell, IBM, any brand you wanna mention almost that doesnt go the extra mile to get a worthwhile atleast standard metal atx case with a normal power supply and simple panel removal. Lookin at a prebuilt its just like riight, lets just start gankin plastic off and then removing multiple pieces of metal to identify chipsets for drivers.

    Stupid Computer Tricks!

I am very sorry, but this site has had so much traffic lately, it's exceeding my bandwidth allotment! This can be very expensive!

I asked for contributions, but out of all the traffic (I had over 16,000 hits last night alone) not a dollar was contributed.

Stupid Computer Tricks will return soon.

    Best Wishes,

    Rod Shelley

    Never Fails To Amaze Me

I did Field service in the Worcester/Boston Ma area and I went into alot pf peoples houses and saw plenty. The few I miss are the boot floppy that refortmats the harddrive cause the first line has format in it , Or the smoke encrusted PC from some famliy and it needed a new floppy. After I replaced it the PC case was a nice yellow and the floppy was bright white. YUCK.
The heroin needles behind the pc were a nice touch at one house and of course me swearing at the Gateway techs all the time for diagnosing software issues at hardware was the best. Ah well
