Synching via IR
I'm trying to sync my sony clie sl10/u to my laptop via IR.
Laptop is running Win98se.
I set the stuff so that the system used a com port in its IR, and set up the hotsync to point at that com port. However, the fool thing refuses to sync!
I'm at my wit's end. I've tried many different configs, but to no avail. Any suggestions would be useful.
Laptop itself is an AST P-100 jury-rigged into a 166 with 24mb of ram.

you are probably trying to use the same com port as the internal modem

I'll double-check, but I think not. It's not internal - it's PCMCIA. To test, I'll remove the modem.

More sync woes
I'm trying to sync my sony clie sl10-u with my WinXPSP1 machine via USB. The problem is, the first time I do it in a given day, the machine reboots. It's annoying, but could be critical. Any ideas?

It is rebooting automatically...
Right click my computer, properties, advanced, startup and recovery, uncheck the automatically restart on error. Now when you plug it in, you will see the bsod and we can start looking at the problem properly... post the entire bsod message here.

Double post - merged - please do not start new threads for the same problem, if you feel you haven't had an answer, post again in the SAME thread, this will bring it to the top of the search lists again.

It's a different problem: the first is to a laptop via IR (still nonfunctional no matter what I've tried), the second is the winXP reboot bit.

Ok, did you follow the instructions to turn off auto restart on error?
