    ID oddball motherboard

    Hi All!
This may be one for Ruslan; I'm trying to resurrect an old system for a friend and hoping to find some info (and maybe a BIOS update) for this motherboard.

    Brand: Top Gun

    AMI BIOS 11/16/1997 S

    51-0505-001437-00111111-071595-M1531/43-001_10_TX_PRO-H

What little I've been able to dig up indicates it may be a PC Chips or Alton board.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    TIA

    Thumbs up

    Spot on, NooNoo!

I've got the updated BIOS, but I'm not sure which flash utility I should use. There's four on the site for AMI, as I recall, using the wrong one can cause problems.

Trying to find a manual is next.

Thanks again for the speedy help, NooNoo.

    I'm a bit late, but...

Top Gun is really one of numerous PCChips clones/resellers...

By the way, what the problem you're going to fix by that BIOS update, if it is not a secret? - PCChips is famous for their poor support...

You can read more about AMIflash utility (and find AMIflash utility) on Gigabyte site http://tw.giga-byte.com/support/bios.htm
This utility called as "universal" and it is really universal one...

Thanks, Ruslan. I downloaded the universal flash utility, I'll be saving that for later use.

I was hoping to update the BIOS to recognize a 12GB drive to be used with the system. I have a couple of back-up plans if the update doesn't work.

It's getting harder and harder to keep these old systems going; guess I'll have to start updating my stash of "junk" parts.

    Thanks again for your help.
