Bugcheck help (Win2k Server)
I have bene having a problem with this server ever since we got it. It has never been in production, and I am having a hard time figuring out where to start. The server is a Compaq ML330 G2 (Dual 1GHz PIII) with 2GB of Kingston Reg. ECC memory.
Basically, it BSOD's and reboots at will, but only every 10 or more hours. This makes it incredibly hard to see what might be happening when it does BSOD.
This is what is in the event log:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Save Dump
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
so on...
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xc0000005, 0x8040ecfd, 0x00000400). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. Dump was saved in...
Anyhow, I looked on MSKB and did not find anything that really said "YES THIS IS IT!!!" - more like , maybe - this could be... bad cache...
Anyhow, has anyone else had this issue? I have ran a linux memory tester on it for DAYS and no problems. I have rebuilt this machine more times than I bother to count, in the even that maybe a file was corrupted, or windows hosed itself. I have tried it at each service pack level, all with the same results.
I have ran compaq's diagnostics - and all checks out fine.
I am at a loss, I know if I contact Compaq, they will say to change the ram, and that is what is at fault. Maybe, but I doubt it. If it was the RAM, then it would do it all the time, and the Linux test would have failed, or it would hose and boot more often.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
