Max CPU for Abit KG7-Raid
Ive tried doing a little searching but the best I could come up with ABIT's site. The last flash states that it offers support for the 2100+ and future skt A CPUs
So whats this thing max out at? Anyone here have some experience with this board?
Id really hate to order a CPU in for my client just to see and not have it work.....
Ohh yea....Im new here..hi everyone.

Hi Necrometal... Yes I love it when they do that... Reading the compatibility it maxes out at the 2100+ simply because there are 2200+ processors available and no new bios release to support them. If you want to be absolutely sure - email [email protected] and ask!

Yea I sent one off, but that was about 5 days ago. Ohh well, I'll just order one in for this guy and hope it will work.
Just hoping anyone here might have had some experience with the board.

Tech-To-Tech Mod
I was going to stay out of this, but I just can't
if you haven't bought this board yet . . . . . DON'T
I picked one up some time ago because it was a spectacular deal ($48) and Abit's are supposed to be great.
the board has been one headache after another, and it's not just me. a quick search on groups.google.com shows thousands of people struggling with these boards.
my specific issues have been / still are as follows
1.) cold boot issue. the computer would not post cold. I would have to hold the reset button in for a few seconds after turning it on to get it to boot. this was taken care of with cruical RAM, but the Micron stuff I started with was far from generic.
2.) lockups because of XP cpu. I spent hours scouring the net for this one and ended up having to change some crazy obsure bios settings to get this one resolve.
3.) crashes abound. I'm still fighting with this. I get referenced memory can not be read / written or "this program has experienced a problem and will close." I thought I had got it worked out by bumping back the memory voltage and changing the CAS latency. It has reduced the number of crashes, but not eliminated them.
I'm all for tweaking to get exta performance, but I should be able to build a system with high quality components and have it run stable OUT OF THE BOX without any major issues.
get an MSI board or get an ASUS board (I'm not really sold on them either but so many swear by them) just stay away from ABit unless you have tons of ton to deal with these types of issues.

i did a quick google groups search and there are lots of people saying the KG7 and XP 2200 won't work without some kind of board mod.
i hate to say it, but i'm with Kato on Abit. i used to be a die hard Abit fan, but anymore i've had to tweak the crap out of the board to run stable. with my personal machines i don't really care, but not when i'm building machines for other people. its Asus, Gigabyte or Aopen now.

Not my board, had a customer come in that wanted to upgrade.
We built the machine and never had any issues with the board. Ran good out of box, some tweaks here and there. Add GeForce 3 and bam.... 3dMark at 7000 easy.
He is just looking to upgrade CPU before he switches to an intel board.
I orderd a 2400+
I looked at the multiplier and it only goes to 14.5, if need be I'll jump the bus speed to 137 or so to get to that 2.0ghz speed.
