You might also check to see if "wake on modem" is active in the bios

for the lucent modems check the ATI3 in diagnostics, if it's 5.98A your gonna get trouble, you will need to update to above 6.00 at least (for XP, 2K not effected) and last time I checked the newest was 8.22

I've used Creative PCI winmodems with no trouble at all on XP and I've used Diamond external serial modems with astonishing results. Can't think of any that I've had problems with specifically.

Hi all. Just to followup on my problem I posted on from a couple weeks back regarding the modem cutting off the phone service when the computer was off. Must of been a bad batch of modems. We've replaced them with other modems of the same brand and all is OK.
