    Wink When hell freezes?

Traditionally, from early Q2 to mid Q3 is the best time to buy components, particularly processors.

Early Q2, companies are dumping their latest phase-outs post-holiday, in time to prep for the late Q3 roll outs of the next generation.

Many other industries follow a similar product cycle...think about cars. Best to buy them before April 15, or sometime in early to mid August, all for the same reasons.

Of course there are many other factors, but the second or third week of April would be my guess.

Not sure but it shouldn't be much longer. Especially with AMD since they're coming out with the 3000+ Barton processor

They only come down when new ones are introduced. Since AMD has not released many faster processors for a while until just recently Intel didn't need to release many newer ones. The Bartons don't look so much better and they are going for very high prices. They also don't press Intel at the top. Since the Athlon64 is months away I don't see prices dropping much til at least Christmas maybe longer. We have gotten used to the speed wars the last two years as Intel and AMD brought out faster and faster processors almost one on top of another. Unless the Athlon64 is a smash hit we may go back to the days when the Pentium 233 mmx was top of the line for over a year and didn't come down in price much (until the AMD K6-2 came out). BTW all you AMD knockers-like them or not where would Intel be today without them? P3 1ghz? for 700.00?

I spoke to soon. Intel announced price cuts today. Here's the story. If Intel is cutting prices AMD usually follows.
