Try plugging headphones into the headphone jack on the front of the CDROM drive to see if the drive is actually decoding the audio tracks. If it is, then its most likely a cabling problem or possibly drivers. Try plugging the audio cable into the AUX socket on the sound card if there is one or try turning the cable round (if it will fit the other way). Try re-installing the sound card drivers and also uninstall and reinstall Windows CD player, even if your not using it to listen to the CD audio....and if your not using Windows CD player...try it, see if it works. Also make sure that the CDROM volume slider is not muted.
