    Question OPTi Audio Pro 16

Can anyone help in getting a card based on the OPTi Pro82C931 working on W98.

My daughter had sound working ok but whilst investigating a recent problem sound was lost and despite doing a reload of W98 I still can't get the card working. It is seen as new hardware (OPTiAudi16) but W98 doesn't recognise the drivers I downloaded from this site (although I am sure I used these before).

There the problem may be related to the fact
that when looking at System Devices I noticed that the OPTiPlu-N-PLay Sound System is shown as conflicting on IRQ3 with COM2.

Any help much appreciated as I am stuck

    Cool

I've had some experience with these cards.. It sounds like you don't have the drivers CD, but in any case you must make sure to use the corect driver. Some of these have several versions (W/S) and only 1 will work correctly. Besides that, I would say remove both conflicting devices and re-detect them if you can't alter the settings. HMM.. I thought I was registered but I guess something is amis..

[QUOTE]Thanks for the info. I did manage to get it working after making a change in the BIOS and working out which of the device options I needed to invoke.

Not the easoest of cards to set up and I am going to retire it soon.

    Thanks

Chris - I was interested to hear that you got the card to work after changing a setting in the BIOS. I had this fault a while ago with an OPTi and had to spend hard cash to get a chap to fix it. All I know is that he changed a setting in the BIOS. Can you elaborate on how you cured it, because this has now happened on my daughter's PC, and I'd like to learn from this . . . .
