    Network Printer Access Denied

Printer is HP LaserJet 1100 on a Windows 2000 Professional OS.

Connecting from Windows XP Home Laptop over wireless network to that printer. Initially will connect after putting in username/password and checking the box to "remember the password". Works fine until reboot of the XP Home Laptop. Then get access denied and have to remove printer and reinstall to put in credentials again.

Very annoying. Microsoft support is no help.

Anyone have or having this issue?

    Thanks!

Are you logging into the XP Box with a user that is created on the 2k pro box? What you need to do is create a user on the 2k box the same as the one you are using to log into the XP box. Also set the password the same. It shouldn't require any additional authentication after that.

I tried that already. I did create a user on the Windows 2000 Pro box that is the same as the laptop with the same password. And set the permission of the shared printer appropriately. It only works until I reboot the XP Laptop.

I also tried the Administrator user and that does the same thing.

wonder if this is an xp home quirk, in that connections are not persistent.
