Company just got all brand new Dell P4's. I was the first one to get a freebie from the old stack - PIII 750, 256mb, on board lan, 15gb, on board video, 32mb PCI video too, floppy, 32x rom and 100mb zip... not too shabby for free

Yea, and it seems like that's just the start. We have 500 employees here, all getting their machines placed. I believe I ain't seen nothin yet.

Nab what you can. I don't know where you are but businesses in the state I live and the nearby state where I work cannot do that. They must sell their old computers or recycle them as they are held responsible for what happens to them. Recycling laws are getting tough here! SELLING the computer absolves them of any responsibility of where it ends up.

Your company replaced a PIII 750? Wow! We still have people using as low as PII 233.

Well, we normally wouldn't have replaced them and we do have plenty of 133's and 233's laying around that we're getting rid of too. However, we just go bought out by a Daddy Warbucks and we got a shizzy of cash. So, we decided to go out and get 500 Dell P4 1.8ghz machines to replace all the machines we've got

    Unhappy

We recently upgraded everything under 450 Megahertz Pentium 3 on base to Pentium 4 2.4 gigs... Not impressed with the difference at all, had three or four requests to get old computer back, we do a lot of multi-tasking... As for the old computers we give them to schools, minus the hard drives. They have the Intel SR440 BX motherboards, rock solid performance. Too bad it is slot one.....

Is this some kind of terrorist base or are you air force or something? The fastest military computer I have seen was a 1.8Gig...and I only saw one of those.

I work at the Air Force Base here in the 'Burgh.... We have twenty five or so 2.4 gig computers still in the box, awaiting the go ahead from the end users to swap out....They are apprehensive to lose their stuff.....
