Question ADSL router - advice on which to choose?

    Hi all.

Ok - so our landlord has moved out. And now he wants his ADSL router back.

So the time has come for me to buy my own ADSL modem/router. I've never even thought about it before, so I've got no idea what sort of things or functions I need.

I'm looking to spend up to 100 (GBP). What sort of functions are there, which ones are needed, etc etc? NAT/PAT, DHCP spoof, basic firewall or whatever?

We've currently got a stand-alone ASUS AAM 6000EV that we plug into a hub so 3 or 4 of us can share a web connection. I'm looking for a straight swap with (hopefully) not many hassles. I want to buy one, swap it over, then continue as if nothing happened. Or as close as possible, at least

Anyone got any advice on what sort of stuff (or even which models) is/are cool?

    Cheers!!

So... whats the make and model of your landlord's router? Get another one of those if you are happy with it!

    Thanks

    Cheers Noo-noo and Archer.

Noo-noo - fair comment... Was just wondering what sort of things I should expect to find for under 100 these days. As far as I know (with my limited knowledge of these things) the router we are currently using cost just over 100 when new. That was well over a year ago. I'm wondering if I can get a better device for the same money we paid...?

Archer - cheers dude. That looks pretty interesting. Am running that one by the other guys in the house.

    Thanks to you both!
