IE Download Problem
I am running win98SE and I am having problems getting my
IE6 with all microsoft updates to download anything except the updates. If I go to any other download (drivers, office updates, etc.), all I get is a blank page with a little icon in the top left side of page. A tech told me it is my security settings blocking the download, but I have everything set at default and it worked that way until the past week or so. I have also disabled and uninstalled NAV with no luck (oh yea, it does update the NAV with no problem). I have had no virus's that I know of. I try to keep NAV up to date.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance - looking for things to try.

I have tried deleting all temp files and cookies without any luck. On some of the failed dowloads it hangs on the execution if this helps.
One other thing, now my pages don't view properly until I change the encoding view. I have it defaulted to auto select. One other thing I tried was to go in add/remove programs and run a check on IE and it says everything is OK. Been at this for about 4 hours and I'm about ready to hang it up for now. My wife thinks I'm crazy for spending so much time on this.
One more other thing, I was going to reinstall IE with my CD, but it won't let me because it says I already have a newer version (because of the updates I guess). How do you remove IE because in add/remove programs, it doesn't give you this option?????????
I know this is a lot , but I have tried a lot of things. Again - any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you recently install and uninstall any parental controls software like Cyber Patrol or NetNanny?
I had a similiar problem and left over drivers were the cause.
If this is the case, reinstall the software in question and follow their instructions CAREFULLY for uninstallation.
The other thing I would do is to go to Start> Setting> Control Panel> Internet Settings> Security.
Then under Internet click Custom Level, Then reset to Medium level.
See if this works

School was a very long time ago... what actually happened was I was dumb enough to criticise the company stock system, they said, "well if you can do better... " that was 18 years ago... so I guess practice is the key
