CMOS Virus?
OK what gives. I tried to recover data from a seeming bad HDD for my brother with my other computer to no avail. I have given up on it as the disk is not seen by BIOS or Windows. I put my system back together and viola!! MY previously working HDD is not seen by BIOS or Windows! The PC will boot to a floppy and I tried fdisk and fdisk mbr but still no fix.
Do I have a CMOS virus? If so how do I clean it?
PS My brother bought a new HDD and I talked him through setting it up via long distance (he lives in Florida, me Wisconsin) and as far as I know his is still going fine with the new drive

Chris I am definitely planning to check that once again but for this instant I am better off leaving it sit :-)
I have scanned the start up disk I used and it is clean according to my Norton v-scan

Solved
Got it up and running again! Bad cable. Must have wrecked it while plugging and unplugging in the bad drive.
