DirectX 9 is bad for older games
I just installed DirectX 9 (for Freelancer) and now games that required older versions of DirectX run terrible. Freelancer runs great, no complaintes there, but games like Homeworld and Sim City 3000 are not playable at all, very choppy.
I could not find anything on this and was hopeing someone here would know of this problem.
System is an Athlon 1600+, 382 DDR memory and GeForce 3 Ti, running Win98
As I said, these worked fine before DirectX 9 was installed...

Nope, at least not any newer then what I already had installed
Patches are good, but DirectX updates are historic nightmares
OK, fixed it...I re-installed DirectX 9 from Microsoft and that cleared up the speed problems. I guess the install from the Freelancer CD was not good?
