Cant change display settings
To start off, yes I know how to change my display settings. But I loaded the computer one day (Windows ME) and it was on 640x480 and 16 colors. It looks horoble.. When I change the settings it restarts and then when it loads it is still the same as before. I dont think its the video card, because it just did this one day, I didn't change any thing... Help would be graately apreciated.

Sounds like Windows ME has lost your video driver, or your video card is dying.
Do you know what video card you have?

Looks like a registry corruption... or as NooNoo said a bad card... how about a system restore?
If that doesn't help try uninstalling the drivers then reinstalling them.

I've seen thiis before. Problem was with an ATI video card...same situation - changes wouldn't take hold. downloaded and installed new drivers. Still didn't help! Had to yank the card outta device manager and let it find it again. Has worked okay since.
Go WinME!

Had this happen on a Win2k Workstation with an ATI Video Card. Walked the guy through re-installing the video (and other) drivers on the computer.
Next Day, same thing etc, etc, etc......
Finally had the guy call a local Tech service since my schedule wouldn't allow to fly out there. Turns out the AGP Port on the mobo died. Tech replaced board with a like model and no probs.
Weird!

System.ini
I have seen this quite often in the past few months, the system.ini file gets a small amount of corruption in it and forks with the whole OS. Sometimes mouse don't work, sometimes sound don't work but in every case it makes the screen resolution change and also colours down to 16.
Open it up, if there are any corruptions, try to search for a backup of the file, if not I'm sure someone has a suggestion on how to fix it.
