    Icons for blind users

I'm off to load this now, perhaps it'll enable me to see how Orangeman thinks spybot is dangerous to his 98 install....

As for those negative views perhaps if users read what software does and doesn't do before installing it, read the product facts before installing and of course there's that little word BACKUP .... but pah users don't worry about stuff like that ...

I get the feeling all the negative responses come from spy sweeper fans (or is that employees?), well I've got all 3 (spybot, spy sweeper & adaware) running on seperate beasts around the office the one that doesn't break anything is spybot, seems to use less resources too, has a smaller install and is fastest .....

As I said earlier theres something amiss with its defininition file at the moment (the only valid critisism I can see) - the c2.lop check locks it up so I can't say go get it - 'cos it don't work ! But the one guy who produces this can only go so fast so I'm happy to keep it on trial a little longer....

There's two 'current' versions .... the old one as you say limps along eventually having sent CPU usage through the roof for 10 minutes, the new version locks my test machine up tight

Does that mean you might believe me now, or are you still going to investigate it further?

Ooooooh ! I think you do this on purpose to wind folk up ....

So far you've told us spybot is spyware .... then realised that was pants .... then you said it broke your harddrives and the only way to fix it was to go into bios and change drive settings from 'user' to 'auto' well I've news for you Auto is generally accepted as the correct setting .... more pants .... then you told us that spybot doesn't work with windows and they admit it .... no they don't they say it won't work with a system that doesn't have all the patches ... they even tell you which .... then you pick up on what I said about the definition file having a problem, which is also in the programs own faqs, and start with that ....

I said all three spybot, adaware and spy sweeper were running on machines in my office for testing .... I said so far spybot seemed 'best' .... as in stability, speed, install size & updates, allowing for the definition file which was detailed on their site, unlike all the probs I had with earlier versions of adaware ....

The only problem I have with all three is how the hell do you actually decide what they are doing is correct ..... all you can do is make a comparrison between the three and see what picks up what ... but when one says its found something and the other two don't - how do I know whether that's true or the work of the Iraqi Information Minister .....

I'm sorry Confused for 'winding you up.' You've stated your opinion and I've stated mine. There really isn't very much more to say about the subject.

I guess the reason I pursued this subject so forcefully was that people thought that I was doing something wrong, rather than giving me the benefit of the doubt that something might wrong with the application itself.

Having said everything I'm going to say on the subject I'm checking off my 'email notification' on this thread and wish you well in future forums.

    Take care,

    Orangeman
