divx vs. windows media
why is it that divx files completely blow windows media video files out of the water?!?! divx movie files look at least 100 times better! what's wrong with microsoft? do they just not care about digital media?

Flabooble!
Well, since it's been used almost exclusivly for the purpose of piracy of DVD and new movies and since it's not designed for streaming web and more for compression I'd say that M$ and the other big corps coud care less. There honestly isn't a huge deal of $$ to be made in it and why make yourself a target of the mpaa or someone else? My 2 cents.
Undoubtedly it is a nice codec for compression though.

i find allplayer by marbit to be the best.
if it doesnt have the codec you need, not only will it try to download it automatically, but it will tell you what its called, incase there are any problerms with download, and you can source it yourself.
has "intelligent" subtitles, which move at a sspeed that you can read, and are entirely adjustable, and you can speed up the speech so they all sound like chipminks... Alvin, and the chipmunks!! yaa
