Did I buy the right sound card?
I originally had a combination modem/sound card that came built in. After a huge thunderstorm, it went out. With limited funds at the time, I just purchased a new modem without a sound card. And have recently gone back and bought a sound card-- a Sound Blaster PCI 16. How do I know that the 16 is the one I need? Thanks for any help that you are able to give. I have a HP Pavillion, 64MB, Win98se.

It's not the same as your old sound card, however that doesn't matter. As long as you have a free PCI slot in your computer, it will work. The only thing you will have to do is remove the drivers for your old sound card (if they are still there) and install the drivers for your new PCI 16. You can get those drivers here: http://www.americas.creative.com/sup...sp?centric=105

MacGyver,
Thanx so much for your reply and also for the link. I'll probably return when I install it for more advice. What a great and knowledgeable forum.
