So missing the point completely is ok ? Alright if Orangeman says so, it must be true.
If there's any issue with manners that'd be a mods job, not mine & not yours ....
I can see why he was pissed. You obviously can't ... which was the point.

Orangeman and Kineda, I completely agree with Doc and Confus-ed that you failed to answer the question as put, you did give your experiences of going the "cheap" route... however that is not everyone's experience, it certainly isn't mine. If you have enough bits and bobs lying around like Doc or Confus-ed or me to a lesser extent, you can sort these things out for people on a budget very simply.
I also agree that Doc used a personal attack to counter kineda's point and that I find dissapointing. There are many ways to show someone that they may not be correct without resorting to insults.
So subject closed, motherboard was found by dvjduck and I wish him well with his mobo transplant.
dvjduck - please do post again should you require any further help, at the very least this discussion gave you a very broad view of other's experiences.
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

Wow I didn't know personal attacks had any place here in a tech discussion..... i'm glad that he found his mobo, and i'm glad he is happy but i am entiltled to my opinion and it is something i would say to any customer i would want to keep having high regard for me as well as the work i do. As far as half assed posts, im sorry but for the most part all of my posts are correct, to the point, and have detailed explainations....if it is something i am not sure of i might put something in the direction i would take and hope someone else would pick up from there but that is better than leaving the person asking the question with nothing. And as for your information i am not young and am very professional and thorough, and being a senior member i would think you would be a lot more professional to set an example for new members.
Thanks a lot Orangeman i'm glad you were seeing the point i was trying to make.
But just to appease everyone if something like this comes up again i will state my opinion and include the pretty links on where to get a nice CHEAP motherboard if they would like to go that route but there is no reason i shouldnt state my opinion so that they know what they are in for if a problem should arrise......
Customers should never be in the dark you should always provide all of the information you can so they can make educated desicions......

Kineda the point is he was making an educated decision... just read his original post. That is not the posting of someone who wishes to upgrade or spend $400
Now I will have to close the thread
