surely there arent two things me and ya_know agree on? AND in the same day....

cleetus - I think ya_know should be allowed to join the SpamBusters©, and fight off spam ith us crusaders... what do you think?

and im no end user either for the record, i may not be sysadmin i maintain my own corner of the mail server here at work (we are an isp and we have more mailboxes to look after than you can shake an awful hairy stick at)

Don't worry Ya Know and GTISEB, I don't think this is a serious argument anyway. I just think this is Cleetus' and Cheezemonkey's way of messing with us.

...kind of like arguing for the sake of arguing and seeing how many people they can get riled up.

the best way to deal with this argument is to press the delete button on 'email notification.'

Tell you what, why don't Cleetus and Cheezemonkey post your email addresses on this forum and all of us can forward our spam to you?

I hate spam.

Not only do I have to spend the time to delete it, it clogs up the servers because people who delete it just put it in their Deleted folder, which never automatically clears it.. so it just ends up sitting there and noone is going to go through tens of thousands of emails to delete the spam.

Spam is great with eggs! Just put a few slices on the George Foreman grill and then mix it with your eggs add a little tabasco and Woo Hoo! Top it off with sourdough toast and Diet Mountain Dew and your talkin' manna from heaven.

Blah at Spam. I use Mailwasher and simply click a checkbox, and can even bounce the unwanted stuff

actually no. not qquite.

it started off as a serious question. i think people make too much of spam.
BUT when i realised that people really DID take it so seriously it just started form there. cleetus isnt really in on it, im jst messin.

but really, what is the big deal?

Dude, AOL is spammer central. One day, several months ago, I said 'hola' to somebody on ICQ, and since them I've been bombed with spam in SPANISH!!!!

I DON'T FREAKING SPEAK SPANISH. I have to wonder about something. Are there really enough pepole who bother looking at this crap to make sending it worthwhile? It seems like the only people who make money from spam are rats who get paid to send the junk out.

I have an old address that was being forwarded to a new address when my ISP got bought out by another. Well on day one of the transition I couldn’t attach to the old email server, so I attached to the new one, and it was getting all of the new emails, and the forwarded ones, so I called it a day. This happened in the middle of December just last year, so we are talking about just less than 5 months. Well the old mailbox filled up to the brim this past week, and the emails stopped coming. Yesterday while I was at work I attached to the old server, and guess how many emails came down. Now realize I have been receiving a forwarded copy of all of these emails, these were just being stored on the original server.

670 emails!!! In less than 5 months!!!

Of those, maybe 50 of them weren’t SPAM. We must put a stop to this, it is worse than a plague, it is worse than SARS!!! It will soon kill us all!!!
