    viewing media problems....

    OK,

    here's my problem.
I can not view video streems on the net in a browser. The window that the media is supposed to play in freezes and needs an end task to close. I can hower d/l certain videos and play them fin in my media player.
this is a pain since I like to watch the news via ABC or msnbc.

heres what I have doen to fix this.

    Updated windows.
    updated to dx 9
then unistalled it since it was a no go.
    i'm using IE 6.0
    Norton 2003
    zonealrm
I check the security settings and even set them to the least possible setting adn tried the vids agian.
I updated to the most reacetn detonator drivers for my
    asus v3800 tnt2 vid card
    Updated Media player 9
    scanned and cleaned spy files
    registry cleaner
    and windoctor

the only thing I did before this happen was windows update,

    including these d/l's

    Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1
    DirectX 9.0a End-User Runtime
    815485: Recommended Update Web site
811493: Security Update (Windows XP) Web site
331953: Security Update (Windows XP) Web site
816093: Security Update Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM)
Q817287: Critical Update (Catalog Database Corruption in Microsoft Windows)

btw I am running win xp pro SP1

Seems liek I have covered everythign here but I need a few other eye's to tell me that.

    any Ideas....
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Funny you should mention that. This morning I was attemping to view a video on Tom's Hardware Guide but couldn't until I installed the divx codec. The video played flawlessly after that.
