Question Is my vid card a bottle neck?

    howdy,
    I have a Duron 1.2GHz with 256mb of ddr memory and I put a gforce2 mx400 64mb with it.

Is this video card ok for the cpu or slowing the whole show down? Everything seems to run fine but I was just curious.

    cheers

I believe the mx400 is sdram, so yes it's not as fast as a similar card with ddr

it depends on what you want to do. are there much faster cards out there? of course . . . . tons of them. would they be overkill for your system . . . . . don't know.

if you are playing games released within the last two years then an upgrade would definately be in order. And as long as your not Frames Per Second crazy there are some very nice budget cards out there which will serve you well for under $100.

if your not gaming and just surfing and emailing running office apps etc, then that card is just fine.

Personally i think is your Duron the one battlenecking !!
then again.. Kato2274 is right.. depends on what you want to do with the computer.. if you want to use computer for high-end games and programs, i highly recomend to get better processor.. either pentium or athalon.. not duron or celeron..
    thats my personal opinion..

    Thanks people,

I'm not worried about frame rates to much as I'm not into first person shooters/high end graphics games. Just the occasional Diablo 2 and older RTS games.

    I'm content for now.

If thats all ya play, leave it alone, but if you want to start playing new games, get a better card, THEN the cpu
