    5.1 surround sound for MP3s?

Anyone know a good player that will synthesize 5.1 for mp3s. I use winamp presently but haven't seen any options for this. I've set XP for 5.1 surround sound and all of speakers work properly during dvds and games but the rear speakers don't work during mp3 playback. Turtle Beach Santa Cruz 5.1 audio card.

i was always under the impression that you didn't want to use 5.1 for music, just stereo.

Also try doing a search on the Winamp's plugin page for surround or dolby

Other than getting sound on the other side of the room (or where ever you have your rear speakers) why would you want to do this? The rear channels were only made to create sounds that are coming from "behind" the person sitting at the screen. Music doesn't need to be "behind" the person. Other than finding a plugin like suggested above that enables playing sounds from both front and back speakers I think you'll be hard pressed to find a way to do this.

Actually, creative typically made this quite simple through a small program that affected all music playing application. The only point is to have the highest thoroughput available. I like to listen to my music as loud as it can get but don't want to overtax my speakers if I don't have to.
