Windows NT 4.0 - network drives suddenly appear

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with one of my NT 4.0 (SP6a) workstation.
I am using the system and suddenly Network mapping appear out of the blue - all pojnting to the same \\computername\sharename.

The user complains and I already tried everything I know - Please help!

    Thank you,
    Gabriel

Is there any scripted login? Do a search for *.bat on both machines and see if a file exists that is mapping the drives. I think that would be a start. Try a virus scan and an adaware scan also.

    Unhappy

Yep - there is a login script but it is for all workstations (about 10 NT, 10 win2000 and 6XP).
Did AV check and Spybot (which I prefer better than adaware).

    Still no luck,
    Gabriel

    Here's an even sillier question:

Is there any *.bat file in either Start-Up folder?

I have never tried the Spybot program. Minus creating a rule for Kazaa, Ad-Aware works for my needs.

Have you looked in the registry under the "Run" areas for Windows?

he's mosl likely starting a program using a shortcut to a shortcut created by using drive letters for the shared resource.
Find the program that he is starting and create a shortcut to the executable file (or document) directly.

Hi gang - just to let you know -> I solved the problem.

I wouldn't have guess even after Million Years that the problem is with the Ugly MS Find Fast.

you can find all the information you need on URL:
