Drivers for Creative AudioPCI
I i have recently pulled out a creative soundcard outta my parents compaq to use for my own computer. Only thing is, only Win ME has been able to find the drivers and it cant be found anywhere else!
Win ME ses its called 'Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM)' so i was wondering if anyone could find me these drivers and post a link?
cheers,
Commy.

I know this is a old topic but it has some relevance to my soundcard.
I recently installed windows 2003 server on my network server. I want to be able to run a shoutcast source on winamp and therefore need to have a souncard installed.
I checked device amanger and see that 'Creative AudioPCI ES1371,ES1373) (WDM)' has been detected. I have made sure i enabled the sound and doubled checked everything but still seem to get the error message: http://host.nitronet.co.uk/error.jpg
Anyonne experienced a similar problem and know where to get the driver or can anyonne advise me on a PCI soundcard thats compadibile with windows 2003 server?

Welcome to WD Dee.
In device manager is everything detected?
Give us the list.
You can also try "uninstalling" the devices: ALL of them under sound and then rebooting.
But, the error message you mention is a DX error. So, try running DXDIAG.
You can also try downloading the latest "approved" drivers from Creative and giving it a shot.

OK. Looks to me like the drivers weren't installed properly. Like I said, do the triple r: remove ALL, reboot, and reinstall.
Have you checked for updated drivers from Creative?
If all else fails, wait a few hours for more ideas from the Brit contingent. (Hey -ed, wake up, mate).
I am getting really sleepy. ;-)

I attempted to update the driver with the latest NT4.0 driver. It wouldn't allow me to update.
http://us.creative.com/support/downl...DspLangID=1033
I'm about to give up on it as i have search all night on google for an answer and havn't got very far. I thought it would of been as simple as getting a new updated driver somewhere for windows 2003 .
Is there anyway of chekcing to see if the soundcard is compadibile with windows 2003 before look for drivers?

Yeah, check here:

But, don't give up yet, give some more techs here a chance at this. None of us know it all.

I checked it out and on the section search page for 'Creative' i seen my soundcard.
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/de...x?ItemID=23592
I think thats for 2000 but i take it 2000 and 2003 are very similar.
Thats the detailed link. I was thinking of buying a Agp dispaly card which would free up a pci slot and then buy a pci soundcard thats compadible with Windows 2003 Server. However i do understand windows server isn't really built to support audio as its a server OS.
I'll wait and see what the outcome of the other techs having a look first though.
I much appreciate your time and effort!

Intel Mod
This site could be useful:
http://home.earthlink.net/~larrysamuels/WS2003FAQ.htm
It appears 1370/71/73 support was removed, but may be available from Windows Update.

I had a looked at the windows 2003 wensite you posted a link for although it doesn't seem to cover my soundcard.
I ran windows update some days ago. I checked my installation history in windows update as i was sure i had seen a sound driver update being installed. I see the following in installation history:
'Successful 04 May 2004 Creative Technology Ltd. multimedia software update released on June 18 2002. Web site'
I tried searching for more driver updates and got no reuslts on windows update.
I'm not sure what to do now. Does anyonne know of a direct link that could sort this problem?

Mmm I think the early shift has covered it & so have you above, especially since its directx & not on the hcl ..
I don't think there is a newer driver, this is how they sell new stuff .. only supporting whatever they put on the box first time.
However suggestions ..
We have looked in safe mode for duplicate entries ?
Have you played 'slot shuffle' ? (different cards use different resources based on what slot they are in, it also affects priority of processing {put busy cards nearer the agp port or pci 1}), so it can even correct timing issues with drivers)
Tried turning off any hardware acceleration with the slider ?
What if anything shows in event log ?

As a student, you will learn that posting into a years-old thread is inappropriate will seldom get an answer.
Start a new thread, and provide some details from the Device Manager about any flags showing, what drivers you have installed for sound, etc.
