    Post sb live 1024

i have recently purchased a sb live s/card, windows recognises it as a multimedia device, yet every time i try to install the drivers windows locks up solid (it gets to 95 %) it , all i can do is restart the computer, after restart it has a yellow exclamation mark telling me that windows has initiated ASD the reference for this problem (PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0002&SUBSYS_80261102&REV_07\BUS_ 00&DEV_09&FUNC_00). i have tried fresh installs with win98, win98se and win2k all with the same result, same with the newest drivers downloaded from creatives site.

    System
abit bh6 v1.0 latest bios, ss i think! (only thing i havnt tried is going back a bios or two)
intel slot 1 celeron 300@450 tried this at defalt, no joy

196 mb of mixed memory 3x64mb 2=133mhz 1=100mhz i also have 2 more sticks of 32mb 100mhz memory, it has been tried in every combination you can think of

basically i have tried all combinations with the above and am having no joy at all it allways locks up at 95% reading from the cd or with d/loaded drivers.

talk about frustatin ive had the cambridge sound works just itchin to give me some serious sound now i have the card to do it they r redundant

I have got one of these cards myself, but have never really had any probelms installing the software on it.

When I have reinstalled Win98, because this does'nt recogonize the device, under other devices, there is a couple with question marks next to them. I remove these, then install of the CD, there and then. The software loads, and then towards the end, the drivers are loaded. It does install the card as a multimedia device. Under system properties there should be under Sound Cards and entry call Soundblaster 1024

Also a completly new entry is added from the Sys prop tree, call Multimeda device(I think).Under this you have listed, Joystick adapter, Soundblaster 16 emulator, and the multimedia one (i think these are the names, I'm not in front of my home computer at the moment)

    I hope this helps.

i appreciate your tyring to help but no matter how the drivers are installed it just locks windows so far thru the installation. after lockup it just shows up as sblive and an exclamation mark, telling me windows has initiated ASD, i was kind of hoping that someone could tell me what the error code windows gives is.

If you've done all these, then probably you're dealing with a faulty part.

Besides that, have you tried to check that error on Microsoft's online tech support?

    It's worth a try.

    Good luck.
