Exchange server switch
We are going through an MS exchange server switch to another sight. The new server will be located at another location and will involve a diferent server name. This means that each individual Outlook profile will have to be altered to point to the new server (it will not resolve itself). I am trying to find an easier way to switch the users without having to remote desktop into each pc and change the profile. We are running an NT enviroment without active directory. Does any one have a simpler way of doing this, maybe by just remoting into the client registry and changing entries or maybe there is a tool out there?? Please advise....
Thanks....

Check out Profile Generator (NEWPROF.EXE) in the Exchange Server toolkit. It should do the trick if you can get it pushed out to each PC - if you use a logon script that will do the trick.

better way...
What you are looking for is MODPROF.EXE. A better way to go about it would be to stand up the old Exchange server at the new location. Move all the users to the new server and then as each user logs on the Outlook profile gets updated to point to the new server. After everyone has done this then you can pull down the old server. Done. Much easier. If you need additional info let me know: [email protected]
