    Resolved [RESOLVED] What is happening?

I have been told my PC contains a Creative Labs model ct4810 sound card (by the person who built my pc). Each time I boot my PC the add new hardware wizard reports that it has detected a opl3-sa2 sound card? If I continue with the install the wizard fails to find the drivers on the hard drive or on the sound blaster audio pci128 cdrom I was given. When I plug the speakers in to my sound card the monitor does not work. I have tried to remove the opl3 sound card from the system properties screen but windows keeps detecting it on a boot. Within this same screen the sound card appears under other devices marked with a backward question mark and explanation mark. If all was well should it not appear within sound, video and game controllers? Initially thinking my pc had a yamaha sound card I downloaded the drivers from their website but these fail to run. Any assistance here would be gratefully received.

    Hi,

Yes, they should show up under Sound, Video and Sound Controllers. Have you tried the Creative drivers here?
    http://www.windrivers.com/company/creative/index.htm

Also, the OPL3-SA2 drivers have worked for me...try here...make sure that you get the right drivers for the OS you're using.
    http://www.yamaha.com/lsi/dindex.htm

After downloading the file and then executing it, it will self-extract into a new directory. I would then boot into Safe Mode, delete all references to your present sound card, reboot and let Windows find it. When it asks, tell it that you Have the Disk and then Browse to the location that the files were extracted to...hopefully, it will take off and start flying for you.

I would first try the Creative files since that is what you actually have...supposedly. If that doesn't work, then try the Yamaha drivers.

Hope this helps you out...Good Luck!
