    Angry Camera drivers that suck !!!

    Hi guys and girls, I have dug out a old Jenoptik JD350 digital cam and decied to give it a whirl... so i jumped on to jenoptiks website download the apropriate drivers and was totaly horrified.... They are total Sh$% !!! so I am not a happy bunny, and I was wondering if any of you clever peeps had a simular problem and made some better software/drivers and if so could i have some please?

    Could you explain the problem you have with the drivers? "They suck" encompasses so many problems. To investigate whether there are drivers available to solve the problem you are having it would be handy to know exactly what the problem is that needs to be solved.

    sorry for being so sketchy with the detail.... here go'se...


    They are slow, they are buggy, the user interface it greets you with is ugly with limited functionalaty also windows xp dosnt let you access it to veiw the pics in windows unlike my fujifilm 4800 where as soon as i plug it in i can browse my pics as if they were on my hard disk. oh and to top it all off it took me over an hour to get XP to acept the drivers and I can only conect with usb - it says it cant find the camera when i use its serial port and serial port cable.

    This only uses a twain driver and a photo package to acquire the images from twain. The drivers available for XP appear to be specific for usb only - probably based on the idea that if you have xp on a machine, you will have usb, but you may not have legacy ports.

    Support for this camera in linux is equally patchy... as you said, its old, run it on the system it was designed for and you will probably have more joy.

    ok thanks for the input... I will probably strip it and re use the components.
