Epson LQ-2170 compatible with HP Jetdirect 600n series?
hi,
has anyone tried installing a HP Jetdirect 600n series print server on an Epson LQ-2170 before?
any ideas / comments welcome

So you are trying to install this HP jet direct into this Epson printer?
From the looks of it, the HPJD600N is totally incompatable with the Epson, but Epson does have a EpsonNET card that works fine with it.

yes.
the reason why I'm asking is, because I can buy the hp jetdirect at super cheap price. otherwise I won't buy a brand new epsonnet.
they support both EIO-based printers. which should work, right? anyone tried this before?

To answer your question, no, I've never done it. And it looks like Rellik is correct is saying that is looks like it won't work. By following his links, you are able to find a picture of the Epson 10/100 interface for that printer. Compare it to picture of HP's JetDirect card. (Again, supplied by Rellik.) The connectors are different and it looks like they won't physically mount in the same slots.
Note that HP's EIO (Extended Input/Output) is their proprietary protocol. Same with Epson and their Type B Option slot. Again, doesn't look like they are interchangable.
Sorry to be the co-bringer of bad news but hey, it was a good try.
