Photo-quality color laser printers...
Hey team, long time no see:
I need to reccomend a quality laser printer to a client. He is an endodontist (think root canals) and will be taking digital X-rays with intra-oral sensors. We usually hook these clients up with a nice HP or Epson inkjet, but this guy wants to print A LOT, and he doesn't like waiting 45 seconds for inkjet output.
I'm thinking of a user friendly, 1200x1200, excellent quality color laser printer for him, but I have never had the pleasure of playing with this technology, so I don't know what to suggest. It does not have to be a diagnostic quality/medical grade printer as the diagnosis happens on the monitor. The output usually goes to the patient's general dentist or to an insurance company. So as long as we can achieve quality as good as some of these inkjets, happiness shall be achieved. I'd like to keep it around or under $2000 US as well.
Thanks for any tips!

we have some hp laserjet 4600's. they seem pretty nice, though I've never snuck in digital photos to really check them out, but it would get you under $2000

Hey gang. I am new to this forum and look forward to sharing my experiance/stupidity with the rest of you. I've been reading it for several months, and decided to join.
It just so happens that I have been looking into color lasers of the same range as you. Here are 2 reviews I've found helpful. The first one is a bit smaller than you are looking for, but it's a decent printer none the less, albeit slow on color. (4ppm)
The other review is an older review, about 8-9 months, but still very helpful. So you know, at this point I am leaning toward the larger HP in the second review. Also, Office Depot (the one next to me, anyway) carries these larger HP's in stock, and might not mind hooking one up for you and letting you do some test prints. You can tell the printer to shoot a test picture. I found it to be overly blue, as you will also see in this review. This is however adjustable.

No, I do not use a mac. However, they do some very indepth printer reviews on this site.
I hope this helps. Nice to meet you all.

Right in your price range and I haven't had to mess with one of them. Highly recommended.
