    got a new car

i got a new car yesterday.

it was my brothers but i took it off his hands since he is a little tight on money due to his stupid old pc company laying off people.

i brought his 96 ford mustang coupe for 2000 bucks, 3.8L V6 green.

it has 124,940 miles on it, he took really good care of the engine, the car runs but it does need some minor mechanical work (not engine) when he owned the car he wasnt able to get it looking nice or modding it.

so once i get the title switch over to me, im going to start fixing it up and adding some mods to it.

i still have my ford ranger so i will have two cars now, so thats kool, im still making payments on my ranger but i can afford them both.

i happy i have a crusin car now

i cant wait to ge the title switched over.

i was wondering, is there a fee you have to pay to get the title switched over?

do i just go to the secratory of state with the old title and my brother?

hehe, I got a ford not too long ago too. And to answer the question, yes, most states do charge a fee for changing over the title. It's normally not much (varies from state to state) and can normally be done cheaper through the Department of Motor Vehicles rather than a licensing service.

    My Ford

3.0L 265HP after installing mod-chip, shift kit, custom 16" rims, came with stock header-pipes from the factory so I added a dual exaust.

Post a pic, Mustang's don't require modding to look sweet

BTW, freddy, where'd ya pick up yer lil weekend warrior,,, that's kool as $H|+

For the title change over they may need a bill of sale, they usually charge you tax on the purchase at that time. Fake one up for $100, they will charge you a lot less!

As far as the mods, a V-8 would be a great start...

Ok, where did you get that spec. from? Did all the extra HP come from the 16" rims, or the armorall on the tires?

The 3.0L Duratec V6 is rated at only 200 hp. The exhaust isn't going to give you that much more performance from 200hp, and the chip, well just cause it says on the box that it will add 60HP don't mean that it will. Have you tested this out, or are you just blowing smoke?

When manufacturer's rate a vehice, it is at the drive tires. Alot of HP is lost in the drivetrain and the shiftkit allows more of that HP to hit the road. So a few come from there. I also forgot about the 70MM throttlebody. Stock is only 55 I believe.
As for if it's acurate at 260, I dunno... It's just what H&H Racing stables told me. They've been around here for 20+ years building race engines for motorcycles, cars, and trucks, and they do own a dyno.

Warranty or not, it goes to H&H. The "Company" garages around here I wouldn't let touch my Briggs and Stratton on my Lawnmower.

Improved induction, improved exaust flow, improved timing and fuel mixtures (via the power chip). I'd bet it's there.

Actually, you have it backwards. Automobiles for a lifetime of years have been rated from the motor alone when the factory releases the specs. That is where the argument of the engines power verses the true rear wheel HP emerged. The loss of power through the drive train, and other variables is evident in a dynamometer tests. This holds true for front wheel drive cars as well, but the terms remain the same.

What is True Rear Wheel (tm) Horsepower?

    Horsepower in the Real World:

Your car was rated at 200 hp from the factory, but the “real” wheel HP would be much lower. Adding dual exhaust has a typical addition of 10 to 15 free HP to the motor, but if you already had open headers, the gains might be less than you think, and the RW HP may be nominal.

The shift kit will transfer more power to the wheels yes, but only increasing the RW HP, not the motor HP. The larger intake can afford a lot of power to the motor, which I will agree. And the chip will help with overall performance.

If the guys at H&H said they dyno-ed your ride and came up with 265 hp RWHP, I would expect you were handed the results sheet. If not, then you may be presuming more than you should. Get that thing on a machine and you will own your bragging rights. If this is all true, you have a nice ride. Otherwise, you have a Taurus with a lot of fancy parts that can still be beat by a lot of stock cars.

After they get done welding your cam to your flywheel bring that taurus over so i can spank that a$$.... or Ya_Know can break out his RC how much does that car weigh like 4000lbs? i'll give u the jump and 4 cars....

On a side note for zeoneed, they make supercharger kits and turbo for the v-6 but keep in mind that if you do intend on going really fast in a v-6 their parts (i.e. rear-end, trannie, etc) are not as strong and will break after time. If you are just having a crusing car, have fun get some body kits, put in a huge stereo, and some sweet rims... enjoy ur new pony!

They weigh in less than 3400 pounds; I wouldn't give him too much lead. If he has this much power, a good jump could beat you...

I did that to a chick in a mustang once. She was hot roddin, and I was in an old V6 Cutlass. I stepped on it and she bit; it was a left turn from a light ===----- two lanes down to one, you know the drill. I realized that I won when I saw her rear bumper in my mirror. It was sad... I couldn’t beat a Geo off of the line with that bucket and I wiped out a hot rod!

It's just a cruiser, but I live in the mountains and like to step on it and feel walk over the mountains without it having to change gears or grunt about it.
    Title has it at 3333lbs.
