    Well - I turned it off overnight and lo and behold this morning it works fine! I will check out the NW card later though - there's obviously someting not right...

    Just to update you all, I have re-seated the JetDirect card again and given it a good blow out (!) and so far everything is going OK. Thanks for all your suggestions.

    We used to have this exact same problem here with 3 of out HP5si's. Sounds stupid but HP told us the following and it worked every time.

    Power the printer of for 2 minutes (no less) then power on and it will start working ok.

    OR

    Power the printer off, hold down the "online" button and power on. As soon as it comes on it will say "resetting to factory defaults". Quickly switch the power off again and power it up as normal. The printer hasn't had time to reset itself to default but its seems to clear something out as it will all print fine after this. Wierd I know but it worked for us.

    If you ever get rid of the 5si's get some 4300DTNSL printers as they are awesome!
