CL SB PCI128 in DOS
Has anyone been able to get a PCI128 running in DOS? There are files in c:\program files\creative\ctsnd\dosdrv called apinit.exe, apconfig.exe, etc. From what I've gathered, apinit.exe will load the DOS driver is all is set up correctly. It looks to the sndscape.ini file in c:\windows, but apparently my settings are wrong. I have not been able to find any documentation regarding the DOS drivers in the manuals or on CL's website. I have a bunch of old DOS games I would like to play again. Oh yeah, I'm running Windows 98, Celeron 333, 64M, Viper V550, Logitech Mouseman+. If I can get the drivers working, but the games still won't run, I may set up a separate DOS partition for this purpose...

This card likes to use IRQ 7 for DOS instead of IRQ 5. Try changing your game settings to that.

I have not easily been able to get these cards to run under DOS on any IRQ other than 11???? This is what Creative Labs have actually Hardware set the card to run under. It may state a different IRQ under Device Manager for the Dos emulation, but that is only for games that run from DOS but exit wndows when run. You could try editing the sndscape.ini file to set the card to IRQ5 or change the IRQ in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to I5.
This is one of the reasons why Creative actually stopped making the card and replaced it with a different model ( a PCI version of the SB16 believe it or not!!!! ) This info was given to me by the only UK Authorised distributer of Creative Labs products, so I would say that this is pretty damn true.
